First Semester. OVER

My first semester as a college student is coming to an end and it went by so fast, and it feels like it just begun. I feel that I did okay do to the fact that I had a some what of a hard time transition into college life and great professors that worked with me, and knew that I could succeed to my highest potential in class which made me push myself harder in coming a better student
What I have learned about myself this first semester of college, that it is nothing like high school that was the first thing. Learning that living with other people is very difficult since I am an only child not getting my way for some things was difficult if you must say. I have also learned that staying on top of your schoolwork in most important my education is very important to me. Having an education will better myself in the future for a well paying job to fulfill my dreams. Another thing being ahead of your work is important waiting to the last minute to do something which I would not recommend, because if so you will fall behind on work be overwhelmed with things get frustrated and just not care about. Getting involved on campus is something you should consider doing, maybe a club getting a job to interact with you community getting to know other people. That is something that I learned my first semester in college away from home.
My biggest challenges my first semester in college I would have to be getting use to the workload, professors, and my grades. The workload was very overwhelming for me, and I didn’t end up doing to well in some of my classes, which made me very sad because I have never done this badly before in school. It just hit me like a ton of bricks; I did not know what to do. So I met with my professors asking them what I could do in there class to bring up my grade some teachers told me what I had to do others just told me to do better in the class which I already knew I had to do that. Being that I hit rock bottom my freshman year means that this is just the beginning and it is going to get much harder as time goes by. So what I started to do getting extra help either me going to the writing center, math extra help, or meeting with the professor during office hours. I was going to do what ever it took for me to pass my classes. So I am praying I did good on my finals to show that my hard work paid off, and that I can achieve anything with determination.
My biggest achievement in college this semester, was getting involved on campus, going to events that are held on campus getting to know all these wonderful people in my classes and in my community. The one thing I am most proud of is the club I am in called ASA, which stands for African Student Association. This is what I call my Southern family brothers and sisters I always wanted. For are club we raise money, and have different fundraisers for children in Africa, and any other countries. But we have a big event coming up April 28th, 2012 it is this big fashion show we host every year we dress up in African clothing or different things that Africans wear and model them showing there fashion what is close to home for them. For me to celebrate in this fashion show means a lot something I have never done before get to express myself in a way no one has seen before, representing culture and dance which are two important things to me. That night will be something I will never forget.
My goals for the next four years at Southern are to stay focused keep up with the work load, my grades, but still having a social life with others. I want to graduate with my Nursing degree and start my career right away; helping other people is something I have been doing since I was little caring about others before caring about myself. Having a caring heart, to me I will be rewarded with saving someone’s life everyday or making sure someone is getting the proper treatment they deserve. Becoming a Nurse means everything so focusing on this is my priority right now in school that is my ticket to success.

Last Campus Safari

As a college student it is very easy to get sick since you are always around people. For example, I have been sick twice while in college going to the health center because of colds which later turned into strep throat the couple of times I have been sick, then when I got better my roommates got sick which I felt bad cause I thought that I had got them sick. What they recommend me to do when I got the health center was to do when you have strep is to make sure you are drinking lots of fluid like tea and Gatorade. Also, it is important to get your rest, so you should try to go to bed early. If you are not feeling better in a couple of days then go back to the health center to get checked out again to see how your progress is going if it comes down to it for you to be put on antibiotics. But the question I ask myself. In college how you can stay healthy? First make sure you are always washing your hands and don’t put your hands near your face. When coughing or sneezing do those things into your arm not your hands because when you go to touch something you are spreading germs. Secondly, you need to make sure you are getting plenty of rest and eating right. If you abuse your body not eating, or drinking correctly going to bed at late hours your body will never heal, and you will stay sick or need medicine. Lastly, if you feel like you are becoming ill make an appointment to get checked out at the health center before it becomes worse you wouldn’t want to go home and be sick and miss out on classes and have all this work to make up on if your professor lets you.

Coming down to an END :(

My ideal after life after college would have to be very well off. I will be a doctor a pediatrician to be exact. Since I love being around, and dealing with children I set a career based on me helping kids who are in need which I are about that most. I will move out of Connecticut after I graduate from college. Go to medical school outside of this state. While in medical I plan on getting married, then waiting a year to have kids. Once I graduate find a job build my career up. I plan to move either to Atlanta or California. I love places that are hot I can’t do the cold weather anymore. I have very high expectation and dreams that I want to fulfill in life. I want to build my own house from the ground up. Have a charity for kids and young adults, because I always love to give back to those who are less fortunate than me. Doing that and seeing children’s faces light up just because they got something or food for dinner really touches my heart, and sharing is something I always lived by when growing up. I am an only child so when people think that they say I must be spoiled, but that’s not case I earn the things I get by getting good grades. I don’t have things handed to me like some kids do. I think that my life after college is something special to me and I feel like I can accomplish it.
My experience this semester with the kids in my class I will always remember my freshman year in college. The part that I will miss most about my classmates sitting in anthropology and then talking about the professor with are inquiry teacher on how bad a teacher she is. I will miss everyone and how me make each other laugh, it’s like we are our own family, which I really don’t want to say goodbye too. Seeing them around campus makes it better, but it won’t be the same for me. When you connect, and get along with people for so long just not seeing them everyday will be a change in scenery. Having there cell phone numbers and hanging out on campus working on homework together will be another way of catching up and staying in touch.

Talk show

For my final project I believe that the topic that I chose was very interesting. With Social life as my topic I plan to talk about what people do socially on campus whether it’s going out, making new friends, or hanging out with friends. What is going to make my movie interviews and a talk show that I am going to have different people’s opinion on what they do on campus of off campus. This will add a funny edge and I feel that this is a great way to get the viewers attention about social life. Also, I feel that I am going to add music and some bloopers to make it funnier. Since the movie has to be 8-10 min long I am going to ask more people outside the talk show and go around campus with my camera. This will make my movie stand out from other people. I don’t know if other people chose this topic to use for their movie. I feel like I can add a little bit of my energetic, bubbly, and out going self to the talk show, and have my viewers laughing about every little thing. I already have people I am going to interview I just have to work on question that will stand out, to my viewers to make people really think, or just be how is social life on campus how can we make it better.

Movie Outline

The problems that I am going to focus are either social life in college, or commuter vs. on campus person. The main piece is the problems that happen in social life on campus, and for commuter and campus life. I am going to talk about how commuters, feel when they aren’t as involved on campus. Because someone on campus is involved in campus, and is able to have the experience of living on there own. There is going to be a combination of interviews about what people do on campus to get involved, and interviews between people who commute and people who stay on campus. Between the interviews I am going to put statistics, about the difference between the topics I chose to do. Some things that I will talk about are people going on Thursdays and Fridays, and people what they do if the commute what they do at home in there spare time. For the solution I am going to have things that you can make staying on campus fun, and more inviting, or with social life things people can do on campus to make it fun. Also, then have interviews to see what students will do about the situation. Then I put things that other people have tried to solve the problem.

Lets Read

safari

For Anthropology we are reading the Patterns of Culture book by Ruth Benedict. The book was something easy to find in the library since we have to read it for class. What I used to find this book was the database that has all the book they have in the library online, of all the books and found the location. Once I found this book, I checked it out and went on to start and reading this book. After reading one of the chapters the book is all about different cultures and how people act in their society. In the class we are now reading this, but she has us reading it for homework. In this book I have no idea what is going on, it is very confusing I think, and so does everyone in the class. I really can't say that much about it since I don't understand it, and the teacher really doesn't explain the book. So there is no words to explain this book.
