Talk show

For my final project I believe that the topic that I chose was very interesting. With Social life as my topic I plan to talk about what people do socially on campus whether it’s going out, making new friends, or hanging out with friends. What is going to make my movie interviews and a talk show that I am going to have different people’s opinion on what they do on campus of off campus. This will add a funny edge and I feel that this is a great way to get the viewers attention about social life. Also, I feel that I am going to add music and some bloopers to make it funnier. Since the movie has to be 8-10 min long I am going to ask more people outside the talk show and go around campus with my camera. This will make my movie stand out from other people. I don’t know if other people chose this topic to use for their movie. I feel like I can add a little bit of my energetic, bubbly, and out going self to the talk show, and have my viewers laughing about every little thing. I already have people I am going to interview I just have to work on question that will stand out, to my viewers to make people really think, or just be how is social life on campus how can we make it better.

Movie Outline

The problems that I am going to focus are either social life in college, or commuter vs. on campus person. The main piece is the problems that happen in social life on campus, and for commuter and campus life. I am going to talk about how commuters, feel when they aren’t as involved on campus. Because someone on campus is involved in campus, and is able to have the experience of living on there own. There is going to be a combination of interviews about what people do on campus to get involved, and interviews between people who commute and people who stay on campus. Between the interviews I am going to put statistics, about the difference between the topics I chose to do. Some things that I will talk about are people going on Thursdays and Fridays, and people what they do if the commute what they do at home in there spare time. For the solution I am going to have things that you can make staying on campus fun, and more inviting, or with social life things people can do on campus to make it fun. Also, then have interviews to see what students will do about the situation. Then I put things that other people have tried to solve the problem.

Lets Read

safari

For Anthropology we are reading the Patterns of Culture book by Ruth Benedict. The book was something easy to find in the library since we have to read it for class. What I used to find this book was the database that has all the book they have in the library online, of all the books and found the location. Once I found this book, I checked it out and went on to start and reading this book. After reading one of the chapters the book is all about different cultures and how people act in their society. In the class we are now reading this, but she has us reading it for homework. In this book I have no idea what is going on, it is very confusing I think, and so does everyone in the class. I really can't say that much about it since I don't understand it, and the teacher really doesn't explain the book. So there is no words to explain this book.

Social life on campus

This article is based on Social life in college. What do college kids do for fun, whether it’s going out to a party, club, organization/event on campus, and just hanging out with friends in there room. There are so many things you can do on campus you just have to find them by getting involved, and making new friends on campus. That is how your social life can really begin on campus or outside of campus. The best way to develop join your community is to do everything in a group with friends the first few weeks. When you attend meetings, invite others to join you so you won’t be there alone, and can make new friends. The same goes with lunch and dinner invite anyone and everyone. By doing this your developing a group, and or a community, within your dorm, which can be long lasting friendships. Maybe is can for studying. Letting people know who you are around and during the first few weeks of class. When you receive your first assignment, talk to anyone you met in your class, you have met and set a date a few days of the week before the assignment is due to get together as a group, and discuss just getting to know each other. Exchanging numbers finding out where each other live on campus, meeting people in their dorms. Just open up and be yourself, and you will make friends fast. Usually in your dorm they will have a bulletin board with a list of events and activities going on around campus, and outside campus. Some will be specific to your dorm while other events, are going on in different residence halls. I know in my dorm we have hall council every Monday, and we discuss things and events we may want to have in are hall. On Tuesday we had tie-die night, and we tie-die which was really fun I met new people who I didn’t know lived in my hall it was a great experience, and really fun at the same time.

Brain

How the brain works, what goes on, and how does it affect are everyday life. The brain works in many ways if you ask me. Each side of the brain the left, and the right side do different things that we do everyday. And in these articles we read that the left side of the brain is often thought of as the logical, thinking side. Also, people of left-brain dominance tend to choose similar occupations. People whose left side of the brain is their more dominant side. Meaning they are better at these things. Which are good at math, like to read, very logical, dog lovers, don’t enjoy clowning around, need total quiet to read or study, and like to read realistic stories. These are some of the things people use, which think with their most dominant side, which is the left side. A Job opportunity for people whose left side is more affective to them consists of. Being a Lawyer, Lab Scientist, Banker, Judge, Mathematician, Librarian, and a Bacteriologist. To me the left side of the brain seems so scientific and good with numbers. Like they are kind of strict need to have more fun, but also study at the same time. Left side of the brain seems serious. Doing only certain things a certain is how it’s meant to be for them. Also when dealing with the left side of the brain things is taken serious, and certain jobs what you may have if the left side is your strongest. May seem like difficult jobs, but someone who likes to read and write can handle jobs like that if they come across it. Learning about the different sides of the brain was very interesting to me. Take the personality test and learning and seeing these things you actually do in life. Seeing them being proven was like wow I actually do that was pretty interesting.

Writing Workshop

I went to a writing workshop with two girls from my class and the topic was about study strategies with exams and midterms. The Professor who thought the workshop was Tom Colby. The workshop focused on different techniques and clues to find ways to figure out the answer, without really trying. The steps that you can figure out is how they write the sentences if there are clue words in the sentence. Like if there is an “and” you know its more than one answer take are. Also, it what helps is when you re-read the sentence, and break it down step by step. Getting ready for a midterm or exam you have to have all your study material, and what you want to study for. Key things like as in vocabulary that will help you study more. If you have flashcards that will help you get organized with memorizing the definition. For true and false you have to you process of elimination. Figuring out which one does not fit with the question. If you know its wrong that is not the answer. Getting good grades on exams and midterms, which are the short answer part, true/false, and essay questions. Essay questions are the most important part on midterms and exams. The reason why they the most important are because they count for the most, and show you how much you can write.

Nutrition

My article is based on what my group and I did. Which was about nutrition in college students today. Most college students worry about, what they’re going to eat how will they survive on campus since they don’t live at home anymore. Some kids worry about if they are picky eaters, or maybe if there vegetarians. But the most thing kids worry about going to college. Is the freshman 15, all incoming freshman worry about that in College. Because you have no one telling you what to eat you can eat at anytime you feel like it, and no one telling you how much food is too much food for you to eat. For most kids the freshman 15 won’t be a problem. A lot of kids are active whether you play a sport, or belong to a gym on campus your eat least getting some type of exercise to keep you fit and healthy. In this article talks about freshman 15 first-year students are likely to gain weight but it might not be the full freshman 15 and it may not all happen during freshman year. Studies have shown that you don’t get the freshman 15 all at once. Some people get it in different periods. Whether it is all of freshman year, or maybe half sophomore year half junior year. Depends on the person. And who is losing or gaining this weight. But being careful about what you eat is very hard in college. But having the right attitude about it, and just really focusing on setting goals on what to eat.

Drugs and Alcohol

In college alcohol and drugs is the main thing that is going on in college campuses. The most things that is going on is Underage drinking at parties. Kids when they go to house parties, and what not they have alcohol. Which is bad, because some kids can’t handle all the alcohol. And they are drunk, and bad things can happen. May be an accident or make some bad decisions and may regret them. Alcohol remains the substance of usage on college campuses by far, but the abuse of prescription drugs and marijuana has increased dramatically since the 90’s. Drug is the main thing that is very high in pursuit right now. Weed is the most things that most kids really do. Weed is very popular now everyone does it, and everyone knows where to get it from. The percentage of students who reported using illegal drugs other than marijuana, such as cocaine and heroin, in the past month jumped from 5.4% in 1993 to 8.2% in 2005. The percentage of illegal drug use had increased in the past six years. Because not a lot of people new about drugs as much, but since you see celebrity, and rappers smoke in there videos and talk about it in there songs. Kids think its okay to smoke, and don’t really know the consequences about it, and have to learn it the hard way if something happens to them.
